What is an NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer?

The Certified Athletic Trainer is a highly educated and skilled professional specializing in athletic health care. Certified athletic trainers have fulfilled the requirements for certification established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

Certified athletic trainers have, at minimum, a bachelor's degree and have participated in extensive clinical affiliations prior to sitting for the NATABOC exam. Once athletic trainers pass the certification examination proving skills and knowledge within each of the NATA domains of prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, and health care administration, they use the designation "ATC".
