Dear Healthcare Professional,
Hello. My name is Garry Ho, and I’m a Family Physician and Sports Medicine Physician with Fairfax Family Practice in Fairfax, VA – in association the Virginia Commonwealth University and Medical Director for the Fairfax County Public Schools Athletic Training Program.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in the health of our athletes. Volunteering to perform pre-participation evaluations for our schools is a great way to give back to our communities, as well as make a difference in both the performance and well-being of our student-athletes.
The pre-participation evaluation (or PPE) provides an opportunity to intervene with appropriate treatment or referral to prevent potentially tragic cardiovascular complications of exercise.
Please visit a short video of the PreParticipation Physical Cardiac Exam Tutorial outlining the components of providing the Cardio-vascular screening portion of the Virginia High School League's PreParticipation Examiniation form. You will also find links to additional supplementary resources to aid in the completion of the VHSL sports physical.
I hope that you find this website and its content on athletic PPEs helpful and informative. And once again, thank you for your efforts in keeping our student-athletes safe.
With warmest regards,
Garry W.K. Ho, M.D.

REMINDER: ONLY THE "Revised March 2011" VHSL Physical Form will be accepted for participation for the 2011-12 sports seasons. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY LEFTOVER PREVIOUS FORMS.
