Each FCPS high school is a member of the Virginia High School League (VHSL) (www.vhsl.org), the Northern Region and one of the four districts of the region.

Individual student eligibility for VHSL programs is governed by the Virginia High School League. Member schools must require all student-athletes to meet all VHSL eligibility requirements and may or may not have more stringent policies. For more specific information, contact the Director of Student Activities at your high school or the VHSL office.

Admission to High School Sports Events

There are admission fees for the majority of high school athletic events.  These vary depending on whether it is a regular season, invitational, district tournament, regional tournament, or state tournament event.  Check with your local school for specific information.

Fees Charged for High School Sports Participation.

The approved budget for the current school year includes a $100 athletic administrative fee (AAF) charged per student, per sport for participation in Virginia High School League sports, capped at $200 per student. This fee is non refundable and will be waived for students eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meal program. Parents and guardians with children eligible for the federal program are urged to submit the application authorizing their children to receive all eligible benefits.

Concussion Education Program

VIRGINIA CONCUSSION and BRAIN INJURY STATUTE

Virginia Code 22.1-271.5 requires all student-athletes and a parent to complete a concussion education program. Please click on the appropriate link below to begin the program. Upon successful completion of this program, the school will have your record updated, this is automatic, you will NOT be required to provide a certificate of completion.   Students and parents must complete separate programs.   Parents need only complete the program one time for all their children participating in FCPS athletics.
