Pyramid Resource Specialist (PRS) Information

The pyramid resource specialist (PRS) is the liaison between Office of Special Education
resources and school-based staff. Working through the principal, the PRS provides
support for the instructional program by:

• Assisting school staff in analyzing student data to develop instructional plans
• Identifying models of best practice
• Identifying instructional strategies for differentiation
• Supporting teacher collaboration across disciplines, grade levels, and schools
• Providing professional development for general and special education teachers
• Accessing support from curriculum specialists and curriculum resource teachers
• Facilitating development of scheduling models that support effective instruction and inclusive practices
• Providing guidance regarding Virginia State Assessment options (SOL, VGLA, VSEP, and VAAP)
