Purposes
Assistive
Technology Services launched the TOPS program with the
following purposes in mind.
- To
increase accessible training resources to special
education staffs within the school setting
- To
share and exchange areas of expertise with the ATS
staff and TOPS colleagues
Expectations
- Serve
as a resource and mentor for other special education
and general education teachers in your building
who have students with disabilities in their classrooms.
This may include: working with teachers individually,
providing school-based inservices, or sharing at
faculty meetings.
- Attend
two full day training sessions - one in the Fall
semester and one in the Spring semester. A fund
code for obtaining a substitute will be provided
by ATS. A Blackboard site will be established for
each TOPS group and any follow-up and/or correspondence
will occur online. There will be a final TOPS meeting
near the end of the school year at the Government
Center.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for other special
education and general education teachers in your
building who have students with disabilities
in their classrooms. This may include: working
with teachers individually, providing school-based
inservices, sharing at faculty meetings, or
participating on a school-based AT team.
