Designing
a Presentation with PowerPoint
Inserting
a Graph chart in a Slide
- Click
the New Slide button on the toolbar and select
Chart Autolayout.
- Double
click the chart placeholder.
- Replace
the sample data in the datasheet as appropriate.
- Click
the close button on the data sheet to close
it and view the chart.
- Click
outside the chart to continue working on
the rest of the slide.
Entering Data on the Datasheet
- Delete
sample data by click in the upper left heading
button to select all the cells, then click
delete.
- Click
a cell to make it active.
- Type
the data you want entered into the cell.
- Press
Enter to move to the cell below, or tab to
move to the cell to the right.
Selecting a Chart Type
There
are 18 chart types available in 2-D and 3-D formats,
and for each chart type you can choose a variety
of formats.
- Close
the data sheet to view the chart.
- Click
the Chart Type drop-down arrow on the Standard
toolbar.
- Click
the button corresponding to the chart type
you want.
Creating Slide Transitions
- View
your presentation in Slide Sorter view.
- Click
the slide to which you want to add a transition
effects.
- Click
the Slide Transition Effects drop-down arrow.
- Click
the transition effect you want.
Applying a Transition to All Slides in
a Presentation
- Click
the Slide Show menu, and then click Slide
Transition .
- Click
the Effect drop down arrow.
- Click
the transition you want.
- Click
Apply To All.
Adding Sound to a Transition
- From
Slide Sorter View, select the slide for which
you want to add a transition sound.
- Click
the Slide Show menu, and then click Slide
Transition.
- Click
the Sound drop-down arrow, and then click
the sound you want.
- Click
Apply.
Adding Animations to a Whole Slide
- Select
the object you want to animate.
- Click
the Slide Show menu, and then point to Preset
Animation..
- Click
the animation you want.
Animating an Object on a Slide
From
Slide View, right-click the object to which
you want to apply a customized animation.
Click
Custom Animation.
On
the Effects tab, click the entry Animation
And Sound drop-down arrow.
Click
the effect you want.
Click
Preview.
Click
OK.
Adding Sound to an Animation
- Right-click
the object in the Slide view window, and
then click Custom Animation.
- Choose
an effect from the list of animation effects.
- Click
the Entry Animation And Soind drop-down arrow.
- Click
the sound effect you want.
- Click
Preview to preview the animation and sound
effect.
- Click
OK.
Previewing an Animation
- In
the Slide view, display the slide containing
the animation you want to preview.
- Click
the Slide show menu, and then click Animation
Preview.
Specialized Animations
Animating text
- Right
click the selected text object and then click
Custom Animation.
- Choose
an effect from the list of animation effects.
- Click
the Introduce Text drop-down arrow, and click
All At Once, By Word, or By Letter.
- Click
Preview.
- Click
OK.
Animate
Bulleted Lists
- Right-click
the bulleted text, and then click Custom
Animation.
- Choose
an effect from the list of animation effects.
- If
necessary, check the Grouped By check box.
- Select
at what level (1st, 2nd, 3rd and so froth)
bulleted text will be animated.
- Click
preview.
- Click
OK.
Dimming
the Text After it is Animated
Right-click
the bulleted text, and then click Custom Animation.
Choose
an effect from the list of animation effects
.
Click
the After Animation drop-down arrow.
Click
the option you want.
Click
Preview.
Click
OK.
