One post high school option available to students is becoming an Entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs develop and research a business product or service that consumers might need. These small business owners, in addition to developing a plan, can also create a new market for the product or service. Sometimes an entrepreneur can purchase a franchise, which is an agreement to operate another company's product or service, instead of creating a brand new business.
In some fields, including many technical fields, a formal education (a technical, two or four year college) is necessary. There are many two and four year colleges that offer a degree in entrepreneurship (see below for links to majors). An entrepreneurial degree can give you, among other things, financial and accounting information, planning, marketing, and specific communication skills.
Entrepreneurs must have a complete interest in their venture. They must be hard working, motivated, self-starters, planners, decision makers, and problem solvers. Patience and adaptability, the ability to handle stress and strong interpersonal skills are all also necessary.
