Math
Mission Statement
The SCSS Math Department will strive to increase every child’s “Mathematical Power.” “Mathematical Power” denotes an individual’s capabilities necessary to explore, conjecture, and reason logically, as well as the ability to use a variety of mathematical methods effectively to solve problems. This notion is based on the fact that mathematics is more than a collection of concepts and skills to be mastered. It includes methods of investigating and reasoning, means of communication, and notions of context. In order for this to occur, it will be imperative to develop personal self-confidence in Mathematics for each student.
