Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) offers the Thomas Jefferson Admissions Test Preparation Fall Seminar to students in grade 8. Students participating in this program should have strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills appropriate to viable candidacy for admission to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST).
Important Note
Participation in this program does not constitute application, admission, or acceptance to TJHSST.
Course Information
There will be one session of this course. Each course lasts 10 weeks (40 hours of instruction total) and consists of both a verbal and a math component.
- Fee per session is $549 (includes text).
- Texts will be distributed at the first class meeting.

- Walk-in registrations will be accepted at Woodson Central Fairfax, 4015 Whitaker Road, room T105, Fairfax, VA 22032, Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and at the Plum Center, 6815 Edsall Road, Springfield, VA 22151, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- Non-FCPS students must provide proof of residency (deed or lease agreement), birth certificate, recent report card, medical evidence of immunization, and completed and signed Fairfax County Public Schools Criminal Conviction and Juvenile Delinquency Adjudication Affirmation, SS-SE-219 form, found at http://www.fcps.edu/DIT/forms/se219.pdf.
- Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis.
Transportation Information
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
Refund Process
- Refund requests must be received two business days prior to the class start date. You may obtain a refund request form at http://www.fcps.edu/DIS/OACE/pdf/ACErefund.pdf, OR e-mail the following information: your name, parent’s or guardian’s home address, ACE Participant ID number (if available), home phone number, and course number for which you are requesting the refund, along with the reason for the request.
- Refund requests may be faxed to 703-658-1213, e-mailed to Kjruscello@fcps.edu, or mailed to: Kristine Ruscello, Adult and Community Education, 6815 Edsall Road, Springfield, VA 22151.
- Refund requests are assessed a $15 processing fee.
- No refunds will be given for requests received after the start of class.
