Science Fair Postponed Another Week
The South County Science Fair will be postponed until Friday, February 19. The start time of the fair remains unchanged and the fair will begin immediately after the last period of the day. If any participant has a conflict with the rescheduled science fair date, please e-mail your teacher ASAP with all details.

February 15 is Now a School Day
Since all snow days built into the calendar have already been used, the February 3 snow day must be made up. The makeup day will be Monday, February 15, normally President's holiday; school will be open on February 15. It will be a Blue day, FLEX-1.

New Date for High School Curriculum Night
High School Curriculum Night will be held on Thursday, February 18. We will be introducing the 2010-2011 curriculum beginning with a large group presentation at 7pm in the Auditorium. From 7:30-8:30 families will be invited to the gymnasium where there will be curriculum displays and information regarding class options for the upcoming school year. Administrators, counselors, teachers and department chairs will be available to discuss options and to answer any questions. All parents and students in grades 8-11 are invited to attend this important, informational evening.

New Date for Middle School Curriculum Night
Middle School Curriculum Night and Electives Fair will be held on Wednesday, February 17 in the SCSS Auditorium. The opening session will begin in the SCSS Auditorium with the Electives Fair following in the Stallion Café. We look forward to seeing our Rising 7th and 8th Grade students and parents at this important event. The Rising 7th Grade Program will begin at 7pm and the Rising 8th Grade Program will begin at 8pm. Leadership Course
Interested in planning Homecoming? Running pep rallies? Planning major class events and fundraisers? All students in rising grades 10-12 may apply for the 2010-2011 Leadership Course. Please complete the course application and turn in to Ms. Scott in Room A212 no later than 3pm on Friday, March 5. All applicants who turn in a completed application will be given an interview. An after-school interest meeting will be held later this month, stay tuned to Stallion Spotlight for details.

Interested in Running for an Overall SGA or Class Office?
All students in rising grades 10-12 must be accepted into the 2010-2011 Leadership Course before being allowed to run for an office. Please complete the course officer application and turn in to Ms. Scott in Room A212 no later than 3pm on Friday, March 5. Edison Academy for International Studies and Business, Engineering and Scientific Technology
Edison Academy will host an evening Open House for all interested students and their parents in Fairfax County on February 17 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Join us to meet the Academy faculty, tour classrooms, and learn about industry certifications, college credit, internships, apprenticeships, and other opportunities available to students who take academy courses.

Student Directories
Student Directories are now available and free with your South County PTSO membership. Adults, Students in grades 7-12, and Faculty and Staff are all welcome to join. You may download a membership form at www.southcountyptso.org. Please direct inquiries to Jennifer MacDonald.

South County Virtual Book Fair
The South County PTSO will be sponsoring an on-line “virtual” Book Fair throughout the 2009/2010 school year. Available books include SAT/ACT Prep Books, AP test prep books, recommended reading titles, gift books, etc. Books can be delivered directly to school (free shipping and handling when delivered directly to SCSS).
