Tuition Assistance for Special Educators
Tuition assistance oportunities are available for full-time contracted special education teachers who hold an active conditional or provisional license, and eligible paraprofessionals. Coursework must be taken as part of the FCPS special education ED/LD cohort programs, or through an approved special education program through an accredited college or university.

Virginia Department of Education Assistance |
The Virginia Department of Education has designated grant funds to provide tuition assistance for special educators. The maximum tuition reimbursement amount is $500 per special education course, to a maximum of three courses per year. Reimbursements are made on a first-come, first-served funds-available basis.

Fairfax County Public Schools Tuition Reimbursement and
Special Education Tuition Assistance Programs |
The FCPS tuition reimbursement program provides for tuition assistance for one three-credit, job related course completed during a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Courses must be directly related to the employee's professional growth and development in the performance of assigned duties. Actual tuition costs are reimbursed; non-tuition expenses such as fees, registration, and textbooks are not reimbursed.
The FCPS special education tuition assistance program is funded by Title II, Part A funds, and provides for up to 50 percent reimbursement per course. This program can be used in combination with VDOE assistance or alone when VDOE assistance is denied and the FCPS tuition reimbursement option has already been used.

Fairfax County Public Schools ED-LD Cohort Program |
| The ED-LD cohort program is a special education licensure program in emotional disabilities and learning disabilities (ED-LD) planned by FCPS in collaboration with George Mason University. Cohorts are formed throughout the year.
