The Department of Professional Learning & Training welcomes teachers new to our system with a variety of system-wide and school-based programs to assist them in immediately becoming part of the Fairfax tradition of excellence.

The Great Beginnings: Beginning Teacher Induction Program, a program for teachers new to the profession, is highly rated by beginning teachers, mentors, and principals as a program offering strong support during the critical first year of teaching. Teachers in the program form collegial relationships with other beginning teachers while learning from one another. This program consists of two parts: a summer institute scheduled in July or August and an after-school teaching seminar with sessions scheduled throughout the school year. Registration for this program is required.
