Commitment & Support

FCPS has a team approach to new teacher induction. 

At school sites, administrators select lead mentors who ensure that all mentees are matched with ideal mentors. 

School teams collectively support new teachers and learn with one another in a Professional Learning Community.

The Department of Professional Learning and Training (program sponsor) works collaboratively with Instructional Services, Special Services and The Department of Human Resources to ensure the program is cohesively coordinated.  This supportive context starts from the very first day of a new teacher’s career in FCPS and continues to provide ongoing professional development, support, and the tools to support outstanding teacher growth and student learning.
