Professional Learning Communities (PLC) Leadership Development for School Improvement

This Professional Learning and Training Department graphic represents both the “big ideas” (middle circle) and each tenet of PLC (outer circle). The foundation of shared mission, vision, values, goals, and focus on learning is central to the culture of PLC and serves as an anchor for the seven tenets and the three “big ideas”. Ensuring students learn, a culture of collaboration, and focus on results, the “big ideas”, are the core elements and the centerpiece of the work of leaders. The tenets of the graphic (curriculum focus/mastery of standards, intervention/enrichment, action research, common assessments, celebration, principal as leader, and parent partnerships) connect to the three “big ideas” and while schools may be in different places with each, when combined, the tenets are instrumental in accomplishing the “big ideas”. The Department of Professional Learning and Training invites you and your team to explore the “big ideas” and tenets of PLC by registering for one or many seminars described in the Leadership Academy Seminars catalog.
