Audience

This program is intended for newly appointed principals. All first year principals are expected to participate in this induction program.

Beginning the Journey Together

It can be a lonely road at times – unexpected curves, roadblocks, and potholes – a principal’s journey into the first year is a challenge.  Just as all travelers benefit from a guide, someone to provide experienced, specialized advice and direction, so do all new principals benefit from the guidance of experienced colleagues, someone to walk alongside them as they begin their journey.

The Principal Induction program is based on the FCPS Leadership Standards. A sequence of professional development experiences are planned for timely application at school sites. These experiences are created by the Principal-In-Residence, in collaboration with experts in the field. Master principals, consultants, and personnel from departments within FCPS assist in presenting information and facilitating discussions with the participants. Opportunities for processing and reflection are built into each session.
