Audience |
The Leadership Development Program is designed for high-performing department personnel who show an interest and have demonstrated the skills necessary to pursue leadership opportunities within FCPS. Participants are selected competitively within each department.

Program Description |
A unique opportunity to develop inspirational
leadership skills and to build long-lasting relationships with emerging leaders from all FCPS departments.
The Leadership Development Cohort is open to the following departments:
- Accountability
- Communications and Community Outreach
- Facilities and Transportation Services
- Financial Services
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
- Instructional Services
- Professional Learning and Training
- School Board Office
- Special Services
- Superintendent’s Office
- Clusters and their Schools

Is this program offered to employees in all FCPS
departments?
Yes. Employees from all departments are encouraged to
apply.

Is this program only for managers?
The program is ideal for current or upcoming managers. However, it will also develop critical leadership skills
required of employees in every position. Positions from all
US levels, including coordinators, analysts, and technicians
have participated.
How long is the cohort?
The cohort will meet for two days each month over the
course of one year. Cohort members will also have
additional assignments and activities that will be completed
outside of class time. Attendance is critical.

Applications are available at the information sessions and on the Department of Professional Learning and Accountability internet site. Click here for the class meeting schedule.
Applications must be submitted through your work supervisor and to your department’s assistant superintendent by January 15. The selected candidates will be notified in late-January, and the cohort will start in February.
