Audience |
All participants in this program are current employees of FCPS, having a minimum of five years teaching experience, with at least three years in FCPS.
Additionally, interns are within twelve credit hours of completing or have completed an endorsement in educational administration. |

Program Description |
Interns participate in a year-long, experience-based internship and professional development designed to provide an overview of school-based administration through a variety of leadership experiences. Each intern is embedded at a FCPS school and mentored by a veteran principal.

Curriculum/Components |
Leadership topics include: Developing Professionally; Leading People, Leading Learning; Planning and Assessing Instruction; Managing the Business of Schools; and Building Community Relations.
Interns attend monthly professional development sessions as well as the Aspiring Leaders Institutes. Participants also follow an individual development plan. In addition, intern members develop a school-based project focused on improving student achievement and at their designated intern site. |

Application Process |
Candidates can review the required application materials at this site in the fall of 2009. Candidates must submit their application to the Department of Professional Learning and Accountability (PLA) during the spring selection process window, which follows the annual Pathways to Leadership Conference.
It will also be advertised in the PLA web site as well as the Job Opportunities March edition. |

Question- If I miss the application deadline, can I still enroll?
Answer- No. Each applicant will be required to meet several timelines throughout the selection process. There are several mandatory functions, meetings, and classes. Participants must enter the program as the timeline dictates. There will be no exceptions. |
