Assistant Principals


Program Timeframe
It is a one-year cohort program that involves “Leading the Learning” and "Adaptive Schools" training and self directed professional development.

Audience
This program is intended for 2nd and 3rd year school-based assistant principals. All assistant principals in this group are strongly encouraged to participate in this induction series.
Program Description

The Assistant Principal Induction Program - Year 2 & 3 is designed to empower educators to engage in their practice with:

Purpose

  • The belief that they can make a difference in teacher practice & student learning through the supervision & evaluation process... the belief that it is worth the effort!
  • A clear focus on the teaching & learning in the classroom... working to ensure that not only is it a good lesson, it also the right lesson.
  • An ever-expanding repertoire of skills for supervising & evaluating staff in ways that promote professional growth & student learning.
  • Clearly articulated & communicated high expectations for educators & students.
  • A commitment to engage in, model, and promote collaborative practice.

Essential Questions

  • What do schools look like when they are organized around a commitment to the achievement of high standards by all students?
  • What is my role in creating, implementing, and maintaining such a school?
  • What is the role of the supervision and evaluation process in promoting teacher growth and student learning?

Participants will receive recertification points, which can be used toward their licensure renewal.
