Beginning Teacher Induction Program

About the Program
The Great Beginnings: Enriching the Experience program is designed for experienced elementary teachers in grades K to 6 and secondary teachers who are new to Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

The Program Format
The Elementary Great Beginnings:Enriching the Experience program is a FCPS Academy course and consists of two parts:

Summer Institute

Standard Calendar Schools
Dates: August 19
Time: 8:00 - 3:30
Location: Hayfield

Dates: August 20
Time: 8:00 - 3:30
Location:
- Primary - Bren Mar Park ES
- Upper - Woodley Hills ES

After-School Teaching Seminar

Standard and Modified Calendar Schools

Dates: Throughout the school year - see syllabus
Time:4:30 - 7:00

The program focuses on the FCPS curriculum, resources, and best practices in instruction. Opportunities for collaboration and reflection are provided throughout the seminar.

Teachers who complete the Enriching the Experience course receive FCPS Academy course credit and recertification points, which can be used for licensure renewal and salary scale increase.

Who Can Enroll in
Great Beginnings: Enriching the Experience ?

All applicants for the program must meet two criteria:

  • Have been offered a teaching contract with Fairfax County Public Schools
  • Have two or more full-time years of experience outside of FCPS
