About the Project
The Department of Professional Learning and Training (PLT) is working hard to improve the content, teaching strategies and delivery methods of professional learning. One giant step in this improvement effort is PD360- Professional Development on Demand. It is a joint project between several departments. The summary of this professional development is below.
Professional Learning and Training will begin a project using PD360 which consists of 46 digitized Video Journal of Education programs. The project will focus on the following groups:
-
The Mentor Program for Great Beginnings (PLT)
Provide an online course for new mentors to meet the state mandate for all mentors of “zero” experience teachers to receive training.
-
The Mentor/Protégé Program for SBTS
Provide best practice examples through videos to train experienced SBTS as they mentor new SBTS. Reflective questioning will provide an opportunity for SBTS to apply the learning to their practice.
-
Select teachers using eCART
PD360 will serve as a resource during the eCART implementation. Topics in the series that are very relevant to this implementation are: Assessment for Learning and Dealing with Teachers who are Resistant to Change
-
Cluster Offices for Professional Development
PD360 will serve as a resource during the summer for the Cluster office to provide online professional Development to principals. The account will be used as a presentation tool to show video clips and start a discussion on various topics.
This project was approved for a one year period during which time the usage data will be tracked per user. The project purchased 200 user accounts that will be distributed between Professional Learning and Training (100 accounts) and the Office of Instructional Technology Integration (100 accounts). |
