The FCPS Academy Course Program is a virtual mini-university for teachers and other educational staff members providing courses offered by colleges or universities and the Academy Office (noncollege courses).
FCPS contracts with college and university professors as well as FCPS instructional staff. Retired FCPS instructional staff are eligible to teach a course once they complete a full calendar year of retirement.
Any FCPS full-time or part-time contracted employee eligible for employee benefits may register for FCPS Academy courses at no cost and may take one or more contract courses offered through the FCPS Academy catalog at no cost.
The Academy Course Program is offered at no cost to eligible FCPS employees. All academy courses are paid for directly by FCPS.
Points may be applied to License Renewal Options 2-8 if they match and may be assigned the specific amount of license renewal points per option as defined in the current on-line license renewal manual.
Academy Credits are applicable only to License Renewal Option 1: College Credit. One FCPS Academy course or one semester hour of regionally accredited college/university course credit converts to 30 license renewal points.
