Elementary Magnet School Applications Available in January
Fairfax County Public Schools offers elementary magnet school programs at Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences and Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences. Applicants for admission must be entering grades kindergarten through four for Bailey’s and kindergarten through six for Hunters Woods in the 2013 - 2014 school year, be working at or above grade level in language arts and math, and demonstrate positive interpersonal and school behaviors. Entering kindergarten students should have attended preschool in 2012-2013. Selection for available magnet school spaces is based on a lottery. Applications are available beginning January 2, 2013 in all Fairfax County elementary schools and can also be found on the Bailey’s and Hunters Woods school websites to be printed and mailed. Applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2013 and submitted to the Office of PreK-6 Instruction and School Support at Fairfax. Ridge.

Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences
Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences is in its 20th year as a magnet school. The school integrates arts and technology in all curricular areas to make learning a creative experience.
An information night will be held at the school on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. The snow date is February 21.
Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences
Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences uses technology and distance learning and by having access to multiple computers in each classroom. It is one of eight schools in the metro area involved in the Kennedy Center's Changing Education Through the Arts grant team.
An information night will be held on February 5, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the school for parents and prospective students. The snow date is February 12.
