Elementary Magnet Schools
Fairfax County Public Schools offers elementary magnet school programs at Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences and Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences. Applicants for admission must be entering grades kindergarten through four for Bailey’s and kindergarten through six for Hunters Woods in the 2010 -2011 school year, be working at or above grade level in language arts and math, and demonstrate positive interpersonal and school behaviors. Entering kindergarten students should have attended preschool in 2009-2010.
Applications will be available in all elementary schools and on this web site in January. Applications must be postmarked by March 1 and sent to: Magnet Program, Leis Instructional Center, PreK-6 Instruction and School Support Office, Room 21A, 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences
Bailey's Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences is in its 17th year as a magnet school. The school integrates arts and technology in all curricular areas to make learning a creative experience.
An information night will be held at the school on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. Map and driving directions are available. The snow date is February 11.
Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts
and Sciences
Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences offers an interdisciplinary, concept-based instructional program which emphasizes the integration of the fine, visual and performing arts, science, and technology into all areas of the core curriculum. .Each classroom is equipped with multiple computers . Students experience virtual field trips and other learning opportunities through the school's distance learning lab and through the use of SmartBoards. Hunters Woods is one of eight schools in the metro area involved in the Kennedy Center's Changing Education Through the Arts program.
An open house will be held on February 2, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the school for parents and prospective students. The snow date is February 9. Map
