The ongoing presence of federally-owned, and therefore tax-exempt, properties in Virginia impacts the operating budget for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).
Impact Aid is a federal program that provides financial resources to local educational agencies that are financially impacted by these tax-exempt properties. These funds will become a part of FCPS’ general operating budget and are critical to sustaining high standards for educational excellence. FCPS receives approximately $3,000,000 annually in Impact Aid funds.
FCPS uses the Student-Parent Survey to identify federally-connected students and to support our request for Impact Aid resources. Beginning October 31 the survey will be distributed to all FCPS families and will be available online.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, and date the survey form. Return the completed survey (via mail, or backpack) to your child’s school by November 7. The information that you provide will be treated confidentially.
