Graham Road Elementary School Overview

On May 22, 2008, the Fairfax County School Board reviewed the pros and cons of relocating Graham Road Elementary School, which were prepared by a community-based planning team. (FCPS School Board agenda, May 22, 2008, Regular Meeting, No. 20, Action Item 4.02)
After reviewing the analysis, the Board voted unanimously to renovate the Devonshire Administration Center building and move Graham Road students to that site.
The planning team:
- included parents and community members who represented the neighborhoods adjacent to Graham Road Elementary and met several times.
- addressed the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the facilities and instructional program at the current school site and at the Devonshire site.
- concluded that renovating and expanding the existing Graham Road building would not be possible due to site constraints and zoning requirements.
