Boundary Studies - Spring 2009
Fairfax County School Board Will Study Overcrowding at Fort Belvoir Elementary School
The Fairfax County School Board has voted to conduct a spring boundary study on ways to reduce overcrowding at Fort Belvoir Elementary School.
To address the overcrowding at Fort Belvoir Elementary School, which currently has more than 1,500 students in a building designed for slightly more than 1,200, the boundary study will involve Woodlawn Elementary School, which has capacity for an additional 200 students.
Since growth at Fort Belvoir Elementary School is expected to continue over the next few years, officials at Fort Belvoir and the Fairfax County School Board will work together closely to explore all possible future solutions to fully address the extent of overcrowding at Ft. Belvoir Elementary.
The Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) web site will list frequently asked questions and their answers for interested residents. Currently, information about the existing boundaries and general information about FCPS boundary studies can be found here.
Specific details about the scope of the study are available here, which includes a map with details of this proposal.

Fairfax County School Board Will Study Overcrowding at Annandale High School
The Fairfax County School Board has voted to conduct a spring boundary study to provide enrollment relief to Annandale High School, which is severely overcrowded.
Currently, Annandale High School has more than 2,500 students in a facility designed for just over 2,100 students. The boundary study will determine if available capacities at Falls Church High School and Lake Braddock Secondary School can alleviate the overcrowding at Annandale.
The boundary study will also examine the possibility of realigning boundaries for Glasgow Middle School and for middle school students at Lake Braddock to alleviate overcrowding at Poe Middle School.
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) staff members are recommending that the study be limited to these schools with capacity to receive new students. Included in the study will be community information meetings and public notices.
Specifics of the scope of the boundary study can be found here.
