The conference will take place June 23 through 27 at TJHSST. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday. Coming Soon to Your School: The FCPS Working Conditions Survey FCPS will join the growing list of states and large school systems that have begun to look at the relationship between teacher working conditions and student learning, teacher effectiveness, and teacher retention by surveying teachers and school administrators. FCPS, in partnership with the New Teacher Center of Santa Cruz (www.newteachercenter.org), will conduct a survey on working conditions. All school-based licensed educators are asked to participate by completing the online survey during the open period (February 25 through March 17). A Help Line will be available during the survey period. Teachers and school administrators will receive a personal and secure code by February 20 to access the survey online. Topics covered will include leadership, empowerment, time, facilities and resources, professional development, mentoring and induction, and community support. The survey will be anonymous, and initial survey data will be available to schools and to FCPS in May. Along with the New Teacher Center, FCPS is working with a committee composed of representatives from the education community to tailor the survey for FCPS needs. The committee also includes representatives from three employee organizations, principal organizations, and a parent organization.
