| New Income Tax Laws in Effect for Maryland Residents; W-2 Forms to Be Mailed January 23
Effective January 1, 2008, Maryland is enacting major changes in Maryland income tax laws that affect employer withholding. Maryland residents are encouraged to review their filing status. In addition, 2007 W-2 forms will be mailed January 23 to the addresses on file as of December 27, 2007. (get details)
New Antivirus Software Available for FCPS Staff Members and Students' Home Use
FCPS recently adopted new software, McAfee VirusScan, to provide desktop and laptop computers with antivirus protection. As in the past, FCPS will offer the use of this product to employees and students for their home computers at no charge. (get details)

Summer Curriculum Development Web Site Available January 30
The web site listing summer curriculum development projects from the Instructional Services Department and the Department of Special Services will be available January 30. Interested teachers are encouraged to apply online. Projects begin as early as the latter part of June 2008 and vary in length. The deadline to apply is February 11. Food and Nutrition Services Wins National Awards
The Office of Food and Nutrition Services has been honored with two national awards. The first, Best Wellness Initiative, K-12 category, part of the Best Concepts Awards given by Food Management magazine, recognized the Energy Zone for comprehensive nutrition education efforts in the classroom and community and for sound nutrition information for parents. The second, Whole Grains Challenge, K-12 Public Schools category, given by the Whole Grains Council, recognized the Energy Zone for serving a variety of whole grain products and promoting the importance of whole grains in the daily diet.
