The special education department offers a cross-categorical service delivery model for students who are eligible for service through their IEP. We endeavor to address the special needs of our students throughout their academic day by offering both teamed and self-contained classes. Each student is given the assistance necessary to reach his or her potenial either through consultation with general education staff, monitoring and or direct teaching of the classes in which the student is enrolled.
Team-Taught Classes
General Education classes with a general education content teacher co-teaching with a special education teacher providing accomodations and support within the classroom setting.
Self-Contained Classes
6-10 identified students with a special education teacher in a seperate classroom.
Meets the content requirements for Standards of Learning. POS driven.
Uses textbook from general education curriculum with accomodations or adaptions as necessary.
Education for Employment Classes
Self-contained classes for those students who require functional academic instruction and vocation training support. Designed especially for those students who are pursing a special diploma through the alternate assessment program.
Basic Skills Classes
Classes of 6-10 students who are scheduled into four or more general education classes. Addresses study skill remediation and organizational support. SOL support.
