Level
1:
Network
Administration is offered to 11th and 12th grade students
who are interested in gaining expertise in Server management
and computer network systems. Network Administration is a
comprehensive hands-on computer course, where students are
taught networking skills using Microsoft Windows 2003 Server,
2003 Active Directory, 2003 Network Infrastructure, and Windows
2000 Professional. Topics covered throughout the year include
network design and installation, configuration and management,
and troubleshooting of Windows 2000/2003 Operating Systems.
Students will become proficient in setting up Domain Controllers,
Servers, and Workstations and automating and customizing software.
They also learn Cyber and Network Sercurity Configuration
and how Internet Gaming really works. Upon successful completion
of Network Administration, students may elect to obtain industry-recognized
certifications by taking either the Microsoft Certified Professional
(MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administration (MCSA),
and the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) exams
in Windows 2003. In addition, student internship experiences,
resume writing, and interviewing skills are provided for this
course. |
Level
2:
Network
Administration II is designed to continue teaching aspects
of network administration-focusing on management and support
of network users and systems. Time is spent discussing responsibilities
of computer professionals, training end users, evaluating
new technology, developing system policies, troubleshooting
workstations, managing network services and protocols, and
effectively using e-business communications. Students learn
communications protocols, troubleshooting techniques for systems
and client server networks, website management and other advanced
networking topics. Students may take this course in conjunction
with Cooperative Office Education (COE).
