4/3/12: C-SPAN StudentCam 2012 National Video Competition
Congratulations to Valerie Dinavo and Daniel Tavakol for their Honorable Mention in this year's C-SPAN StudentCam 2012 National Video Competition. This is the third time in a row that they have won this contest!
Their documentary, The Uniformity Clause: A Right to Education, competed among the record-setting 1,203 films that were received in this year's competition. Only 75 of those videos were awarded a prize. Over 2,000 students from 43 states, including Washington DC and Puerto Rico, competed.

1/9/12: From the Fine Arts Department
Congratulations to Delaney Jones for winning First Prize in the Great Falls Foundation for the Arts Annual Student Show. Her digital art work titled “High Tech Girl” won her full tuition for one class at the Great Falls art school. An award ceremony and exhibit took place the weekend of January 7th.
12/12/11: From the Fine Arts Department
How many 15 year olds do you know that are published? Congratulations to Ramsey Langley for his article titled Go Palestine: an Extraordinary Camp inside the Wall. You can read his article in the December issue of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.
Kudos to Andre Lindenfelser for his second place award in the 2011 Scott Lange Kirkpatrick High School Poet's Scholarship contest held in October. His poem, "The Glory of Water", was part of a group of written and visual art works displayed at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton.
Congratulations to Catherine Bobalek for being a finalist in the Savannah College of Art and Design’s scholarship poster design contest. Her grayscale poster was used to promote the historic Vienna day in conjunction with her Girl Scout gold award.
10/6/11: Publications Win Awards
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) announced the winners of their annual publication contests. Madison's three publications all received recognition!

The Montpelier yearbook, sponsored by Francesca Branson, won the First Place rating for their overall publication and Second Place in the concept/design contest.

The Heritage literary magazine, sponsored by Nicole Chapman, won the Second Place rating for its overall publication.

The Hawk Talk newspaper, sponsored by Clare Gartlan, won the Tropy Class rating. This is the highest rating given to VHSL publications.
In addition to this honor, The Hawk Talk staff won the following individual writing and design awards:
