Federal Relations

U.S. Capitol, Washington, DCThe United States Senate and House of Representatives affect local public elementary and secondary education through major legislation such as the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).   The United States Department of Education administers these and other major federal education programs.

Three Congressmen (out of a total of 435) represent parts of Fairfax County, as do two Senators (out of a total of 100) from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
