Volunteer Opportunities
Laurel Hill Loves Its Volunteers!
Parents are welcome to volunteer at Laurel Hill in a variety of ways. Whether you have a few hours' or a few days' worth of time to give, we have plenty of opportunties!
Ongoing volunteer opportunities are listed below, however, we will have these specific opportunities open in the coming weeks:
-
Help needed with upcoming Art Gala on May 30th!
We need people to help prepare artwork, labels, and information to go home before the Gala. On Wednesday, May 29th after school, we will need helpers to set up for the show and decorate. On the 30th, we will need helpers during the day to hang the art and supervisors for the craft tables in the evening. We’ll also need help taking the show down after school on May 31st. If you would like to help, please contact art teacher Ashley Birkmaier at AMBirkmaier@fcps.edu.
Volunteering in the classroom
Most teachers welcome parent volunteers to help out in the classroom. Parents assist by making classroom materials, chaperoning field trips, and helping to plan class parties, among other things. All classrooms have a Room Parent as well, who works with the teacher to coordinate other parents to help with special activities.
If you are interested in volunteering in your child's classroom, please contact the teacher. You'll find a list of staff e-mail addresses on our Staff Directory page.
Volunteering in other areas of the school (Library, Cafeteria, etc.)
Many areas of our school beyond the classrooms need the help of volunteers as well. Our Library, Cafeteria, Workrooms, and many specialists also use parent volunteers on a regular basis. Check back soon for more specific information.
Volunteering for the Laurel Hill PTA
Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is run completely by volunteers just like you. They can always use help with their events and activities. Specific needs will be posted here throughout the school year, and you can always find volunteer information on the LHES PTA website.
