Discover Shakespeare
April 12, 2011 · Grades 6-12

April is William Shakespeare’s birthday month.  While we can’t ask William Shakespeare about iambic pentameter, we can explore his world with Dr. Gail Kern Paster of the Folger Shakespeare Library.

The Folger Shakespeare Library, located in Washington, D.C., houses the world’s largest and finest collection of Shakespeare materials.  As a national leader in teaching Shakespeare, Folger Shakespeare Library is dedicated to providing educators with outstanding classroom resources.

During the program, Paster talks about techniques to understand the language used by Shakespeare in his plays. Snippets from performances by Telly AwardHerndon High School students of Taming of the Shrew and A Midsummer's Night Dream are shown.

This program is a bronze Telly Award winner.
