Charity Karaoke to Support FCPS Education Foundation Raises Over $30,000 for Schools Second Annual Fundraiser Attended by More than 250 in Northern Virginia Business Community, Elected Officials and Other Notables

Tysons Corner, Va.- More than 250 members of the Northern Virginia business community, elected officials, School Board members, community leaders, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) leadership and others gathered at the Barns of Wolf Trap on Thursday, August 23, for the second annual Char-a-oke (charity karaoke) Sing Off to Benefit the Education Foundation for FCPS, raising over $30,000 to for the school system.

FCPS Honors - Recognizing the Greatest Achievements in Education


We rolled out the red carpet to honor our outstanding achievers at the elegant new FCPS Honors awards gala. The FCPS Honors was created to combine individual award events into one ceremony recognizing the greatest achievements in education.

The 2012 FCPS Honors was held May 2 at the George Mason University Center for the Arts to honor the nominees and recipients of the Outstanding First-Year Teacher, Outstanding First-Year Principal, Support Employees of the Year, Teacher of the Year, and Principal of the Year awards. Winners received the EDDIE award statue.

The 2012 FCPS Honors was generously sponsored by Apple Federal Credit Union, Apple Federal Credit Union Education Foundation, Northrop Grumman, and Verizon.

Microsoft Grant

The Foundation was presented a check for $450,000 of software grants at the Microsoft Store Grand Opening at Tysons Corner Center on November 17, 2011. Virginia Star has donated 50 computers and 5 printers to help support some of the Software Grant opportunities. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the community for assisting the Foundation in achieving our goal with Microsoft. A special thank you to Microsoft and VA Star.

First Ever Char-a-oke FUNdraiser Brings Out 250 from Business Community and Dozens of Elected Officials!

More than 250 members of the business community turned out to support the Education Foundation to Support Fairfax County Public Schools at Char-a-oke on August 30 at Westwood Country Club, helping the Foundation raise over $25,000! 

Elected officials including U.S. Senator Mark Warner, Virginia State Delegates, members and the Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and members of the Fairfax County School Board, as well as FCPS teachers and other community leaders were also in attendance.

FCPS Honors - Recognizing the Greatest Achievements in Education


The FCPS Honors was created to combine individual award events into one ceremony recognizing the greatest achievements in education. This event is made possible through a new collaboration with the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools, a non-profit educational institution, whose mission is to advance the goals of FCPS through resource development and business partnerships.

This awards gala was held on June 1 at the George Mason University Center for the Fine Arts and honored the nominees and recipients of the 2011 Outstanding First Year Teacher, Outstanding First Year Principal, Support Employee of the Year, Teacher of the Year, and Principal of the Year awards. This year, the founding board members of the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools were also honored for their outstanding contributions to our school system.

Kickoff Celebration for the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools

The new Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools was launched at a news conference at the Gatehouse Administration Center.

A partnership of the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the foundation will be a flexible vehicle for the community to invest in its future through education. The foundation will be able to support initiatives that help students acquire 21st century skills, advance the diverse needs of the community, and contribute to the creation of a world-class workforce.
