School Counseling Services

The Fairfax County School Counseling Program provides comprehensive and sequential services to all students in grades K-12. The primary goal of the school counseling program is to support the success of all students by providing academic, college and career, and personal/social counseling. Mission Statement

Fairfax County Public Schools’ school counseling programs work with students, parents and guardians, school staff, and community members to provide academic, college and career, personal and social counseling services that are comprehensive and developmentally appropriate. Services are provided to maximize the academic achievement of all students and promote the necessary skills, attitudes, and beliefs for all students to graduate prepared to effectively manage future challenges in a 21st century society.

The College Success Program

The College Success Program is comprised of five individual programs that provide college readiness, access and success services to students who are traditionally underrepresented on college campuses.  Many, but not all, College Success Program students are the first in their family to attend college and do not have the financial means to attend without significant support. The five programs that comprise the College Success Program are:

  • AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)
  • The College Partnership Program (CPP)
  • The Early Identification Program (EIP)
  • Pathway to the Baccalaureate and Pathway Connection
  • The Elementary School Project

Mission Statement

The mission of the College Success Program is to provide sustainable, high-quality college readiness, access and success services to the students enrolled in the five programs.
