Operations and Strategic Planning

About Us:

ISD is dedicated to continuous improvement in the quality of the instructional programs and services available to our students and staff.  The OSP staff supports this mission in various way including finance, administration, logistics, technology support, web development, and library operations.  Support is given to the staff and programs in the operating fund, grant funds, library materials fund, and the Adult and Community Education fund.

What We Offer:

Adult and Community Education Operations (ACE)

The ACE mission with the Fairfax County Public School System is to provide lifelong literacy and educational for all residents, Pre Kindergarten through Life; through creative use of facilities and implementation of best academic and business practices.

Continuous Improvement Program Monitoring (Program Profiles)

The OSP office oversees the creation and updating of Program Profiles.  These profiles are done for all instructional and support programs available in our school division.  The profiles give consistent information about each program including the goals and objectives, the students served, and materials used.  These profiles are updated annually to ensure accurate information is available to our school community. 

Financial Management and Program Support

The IS Financial Management and Program Support office supervises all aspects of budgeting, procurement, expenditure monitoring, and grant management for Instructional Service.  The finance team supports ISD’s mission to ensure the continuous improvement in the quality of the instructional programs and services available to our students and staff through the procurement of instructional supplies and providing instructional and professional development opportunities to the ISD administrative staff, principals, and teachers. 

Interstate Military Compact

The Interstate Compact for the Education of Military children was established to address the educational transition issues of children of military families.  The compact addresses key issues encountered by military families: eligibility, enrollment, placement, and graduation.

Library Support

The office maintains a world class library operation including seventy up-to-date databases.  The office also supports a centrally managed library material acquisition system to ensure that the division receives the best material discounts available in the industry.  Visit the library website often for the incredible resources and library support.
