Career and Technical Education (CTE) in Fairfax County Public Schools is composed of six program areas: Business and Information Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, Marketing, Technology Education and Engineering, and Trade and Industrial Education. By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment. A core, or standard, program of Career and Technical Education courses is offered in every middle and high school. Based on the needs of the populations served, each school determines optional courses to be offered.
No student in Fairfax County Public Schools shall on the basis of race, color, sex (including sexual harassment, Title IX, and pregnancy), marital status, religion, national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information be excluded from or denied enrollment in any academic activity or course. The director of the Office of Equity and Compliance has been designated to handle inquiries and complaints regarding nondiscrimination policies to include those covered under Title IX and can be reached at 571-423-3050. For concerns regarding compliance under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, please contact the coordinator Due Process and Eligibility at 703-317-3030.
