About Health and Medical Sciences

The health and medical sciences program is designed to meet the following objectives:

  1. Promotes and facilitates entry into higher education health career programs.
  2. Prepares students with competencies required for employment in the health care industry.
  3. Provides practical application of learned skills required in a variety of health care settings.
  4. Introduces secondary students to careers in the health field.
  5. Enables students to become knowledgeable consumers of healthcare services.

Health and Medical Sciences provides a wide variety of broad and specialized competency based courses introducing students to a variety of health career choices. The courses facilitate career preparation in areas such as animal science, dental careers, emergency response, medical assisting, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and other allied health careers. Students have the opportunity to apply the skills learned by participating or observing in a variety of health care settings.
