Nine FCPS criminal justice students participated in the Virginia American Legion Junior Law Program at the Virginia State Police Training Academy in Richmond this summer. The program is designed to teach high school students about the law enforcement profession. The nine seniors participated in daily calisthenics, took field trips to the State capitol and State police headquarters, attended classroom sessions, and learned about the operation of radar, VASCAR, and other State police equipment during the five-day residential session.
Participants were selected for the program based on their character, interest, evidence of self-discipline, and possession of an attitude and demeanor that would benefit by the association and contact with officers of the law. Candidates must be well-rounded, outgoing, hard-working individuals with reasonable grades who can communicate and lead their peers.
