ACE is a leading provider of trades and apprenticeship-related instruction in northern Virginia. We can provide on site skill development or continuing education classes to meet trades license renewal requirements. 

Trade and Industry 

All Apprenticeship and Trade and Industry classes can be customized and presented on site to meet your needs. We have provided continuing education programs for electricians, plumbers, and gas fitters at convenient times and locations.

Child Care Provider Certificate Program

Envision a better future for children and a brighter one for you. Prepare to work in day-care centers, preschools, corporate day-care centers, and home-based centers. Learn about child growth, development, and behavior; age-appropriate activities; nutrition; nurturing; socialization; and more. Certificates will be presented to participants who meet all course objectives including observation of a child-care center and a portfolio of class activities. 26 sessions @ 2 hours each.

Fast Track Administrative Assistant

Acquire communication and technology skills to enter an administrative assistant role with confidence! While executives may guide the ship, administrative assistants are responsible for keeping it afloat. This fast-paced certificate program will prepare you to provide support services in the 21st century office environment.

  • Learn or update keyboarding, business writing and grammar, Microsoft Office, and communication skills.
  • Receive practical tips on workplace etiquette, business protocols, and customer service to make your entry or re-entry into the workplace a successful one.

Certificates are presented to participants who meet all course objectives including a portfolio of sample documents in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Class meets daily for 18 consecutive business days. 18 sessions @ 6 hours each.

ESOL Instructor Training

Learn to teach English to adult non-native speakers in this highly interactive course. Practice classroom activities, observe classrooms, discuss observations, and develop lesson plans for an ESOL class.

Course topics include: adult learning theory, assessments, cross-cultural training, integrating technology, lesson pacing and planning, pronunciation, reading, text use and supplements, and using the REEP curriculum.

Requirements: college degree with some teaching/tutoring experience preferred, excellent oral and written English communication skills. CEUs are offered. Enrollment is limited; early registration is recommended.

Spoken Language Interpreter Program

The aim of this program is to prepare bilingual students to become qualified consecutive interpreters in community and government settings by focusing on interpretation techniques, not foreign language instruction. At the completion of this program you are considered a qualified interpreter and are a candidate to obtain the certification as an interpreter. Study the interpreter codes, receive the tools to be an interpreter, and follow the guidelines to choose a career in the field of interpretation. No previous interpretation experience is necessary.
