All students who register for driving classes must reside in Fairfax County. These classes are for high school students only. Private school and home school students may attend during the summer sessions. All classes are taught by Fairfax County Public Schools instructors. Register early as classes fill quickly.
Transportation to and from the program is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.

Behind the Wheel Driver Training |

Students drive in residential, rural, and city/freeway settings. DMV-approved road test will be administered. Students must have completed classroom driver education or be enrolled in the classroom phase with FCPS prior to the first behind the wheel class. This course is required for licensing until the age of 19. Courses meet for seven school days and depart from most high schools. We strongly suggest that students complete the first seven chapters of the 45-hour parent/teen driving guide before coming to the first Behind the Wheel class. Classroom Driver Education |

Classroom driver education analyzes tasks an individual must perform while operating a motor vehicle. Units about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, motorcycle awareness, and organ and tissue donation awareness are included. During the school year, students take this course in 10th grade health and physical education. During the summer, the 36-hour course is offered through ACE. Register online. |

Partners for Safe Teen Driving |

This is a 90-minute parent/teen traffic safety presentation that is required by Virginia law as part of the juvenile licensing requirements. All FCPS high schools are required to offer 5 meetings per year. Students who are home schooled or attending private schools may attend for a fee at any high school. Contact the school where you plan to attend for pre-registration information. Register online. |

Practice for New Drivers |

Students with little or no driving experience will have the opportunity to learn the basics of car handling and the skills needed to move to residential streets, all in the safety of a school parking lot with the expertise of a certified teacher. Register online. |
