Excellence in leading schools, teaching students, and supporting schools is what Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is all about. The Department of Human Resources sponsors recognition of our outstanding performers as they seek to create and demonstrate best instructional and support practices.
The FCPS Honors was created to combine individual award events into one ceremony recognizing the greatest achievements in education. This gala event is made possible through a new collaboration with the Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools, a non-profit educational institution whose mission is to advance the goals of FCPS through resource development and business partnerships.
Principals and program managers may recognize employees who have performed outstanding work and whose additional contributions to the school system extend beyond expected work performance standards. This award was formerly called the Outstanding Performance Award (OPA).
The Robert R. Spillane Leadership Award honors two outstanding FCPS employees who, through their leadership, have made a significant impact on students. Both instructional and support employees are eligible for this award.
Service Recognition congratulates all dedicated employees who have contributed years of service to FCPS. Certificates are prepared for employees celebrating 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, or 50 years of service.
FCPS holds a divisionwide retirement ceremony, known as We Honor You, twice a year (winter and summer). To learn about upcoming ceremonies and view photos from the previous ceremony please visit the Retirement Page.
