New Employee Orientation

fcps employees

If you are a new employee in a contracted position with Fairfax County Public Schools, you will receive important employment information in a Human Resources orientation session. After you have been offered and accepted a position, you may attend orientation.

During orientation, you will receive important information about your pay, benefits, evaluations, and both employee and employer responsibilities. You will also complete critical paperwork and required training on Discrimination & Harassment Awareness and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Who should attend orientation?

  • Attendance is required of all new employees hired/rehired into contracted positions within FCPS.
  • New food service, transportation, and custodial employees must attend orientation, but are not required to register. They will be assigned to a specific orientation session by their supervisor or a human resources staff member.
  • Substitute teachers, temporary/hourly employees, and people seeking employment should NOT register for this orientation.

You should schedule orientation at your earliest convenience and plan to attend a session as soon as possible-- between the time you accept your employment offer and up to 30 calendar days after beginning your employment with FCPS.  If you do not attend within 30 calendar days of your start date, you will lose eligibility to enroll in some benefits. Late enrollment for medical and dental insurance and flexible spending account(s) is not accepted.
