The Office of Equity and Compliance (OEC) receives, mediates, and investigates staff, student, and community complaints of discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex (to include sexual harassment, pregnancy, and Title IX), marital status, religion, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. The OEC processes requests for medical and religious accommodations; monitors and assesses the human relations climate within the school system; and is responsible for monitoring the school system’s adherence with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). It also manages the Employee Assistance Program by providing resources to employees and supervisors seeking help with work and personal issues.
