403(b) Tax-Sheltered Accounts

A 403(b) plan is a tax-deferred retirement savings plan available to employees of public educational institutions and certain tax-exempt organizations. A 403(b) plan allows you to make pretax contributions by convenient payroll deduction and save that money for retirement.  All employees are eligible to participate! You can contribute up to $17,500 in 2013 or $23,000 if you turn 50 in 2013 or have already turned age 50. This is in addition to the maximum contribution allowed under the 457(b) program. This maximum may increase each year according to the IRS schedule.
