Transportation Academy Graduates Eighth Class
In July 2000, the Office of Transportation Services inaugurated a "Transportation Academy" to train current and aspiring first-level school bus transportation supervisors. The original and subsequent academy groups have been a huge success. Several members of each cohort have been promoted to supervisory positions.
On Friday, August 10, 2007, the proud Class of 2007 graduated from the Transportation Academy.
The Academy, designed to train drivers and lead drivers in communication, computer, writing, leadership skills, and critical human resource issues, is the product of the combined efforts of the Offices of Staff Development, Adult Education, and Transportation Services. The original five weeks of training will be followed through the school year by three days of training devoted primarily to transportation issues.
