Traffic Safety
Overview
The traffic safety section provides technical knowledge and expertise required to keep the school division at minimal risk to liability, property, and vehicular losses. The section also complies with myriad federal, state, and local fire, health, and safety codes that impact the school division. Safety questions or additional information may be forwarded to 703-658-3770.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate student walking routes
- Establish Kiss & Ride areas
- Coordinate activities involving crossing guards, safety patrols, walking routes, traffic control matters, and other safety concerns with the police department
- Coordinate school-related activities with the Virginia Department of Transportation
- Initiate minor improvement work requests to correct safety deficiencies
- Develop emergency and disaster preparedness plans
- Manage inspections of all FCPS facilities to evaluate compliance with environmental and safety laws, regulations, and standards
- Develop employee-training programs designed to assure a safe and healthful work and learning environment
