Property Management Section

About Us

The Property Management Section’s core responsibility is to manage the building services for the Gatehouse Administration Center.  This 208,000 square foot facility is the work center to over 650 Fairfax County Public School employees and hundreds of daily visitors.  Building services include, but are not limited to, mail, custodial, maintenance and office/meeting room management.

Property Management also monitors the safe, effective and efficient use of other administrative and program centers which includes Dunn Loring, Virginia Hills, Leis, Lorton and other annex locations.  Many of these facilities are the first point of entry into the school system for families.  Property Management strives to make a good first impression with buildings that are clean and safe and promote efficiency.

In addition to managing FCPS-owned administrative and program facilities, the Property Management Section provides oversight of those facilities that are leased by FCPS. Of the current eight leases, the Fairfax Ridge facility in Fairfax is the largest. The 100,000 square foot facility is the work center to over 450 employees and hundreds of daily visitors. The Instructional Services, Special Services and Professional Learning and Accountability departments are the primary tenants of this facility.  Other FCPS-leased facilities include the Adult Community Education Center and the Office of Facilities Management Satellite Maintenance Facility (both located in Herndon); the Landmark Career Academy; and the Office of Food and Nutrition and Instructional Services’ warehouses in Springfield.

The Property Management Section is also responsible for the management of the school system’s Cell Tower Program that supports wireless telecommunications throughout Fairfax County.  This revenue generating program helps to support emergency communications technology for school administrators, among other safety programs.
