Facilities Planning Services

About Us

The Facilities Planning Office manages the multiple processes and information necessary to ensure the efficient and effective accommodation of all students and educational programs. This section produces a five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP), school enrollment projections by grade level and attendance area (school boundary) adjustment studies and recommendations.  The Planning Office prepares bond referenda to fund required capital improvements, in conjunction with other Facilities and Transportation offices.  In addition, this section now supports the recently created and appointed Facilities Planning Advisory Council (FPAC) which is made up of citizen appointees from each magisterial district, at-large members and an appointed representative from the City of Fairfax School Board.  Facilities Planning staff is working with FPAC towards the creation of a comprehensive plan for all schools that is both strategic and long range and creating more Geographic Information System (GIS) resources to support this initiative and other planning work elements
